2015/16 Schedule Archive

In the 2015/16 season Mr. Michaels-Moore reprised his roles as Father Monroe and Pangle in the East Coast premiere of Cold Mountain at Opera Philadelphia. On the concert platform he appeared as a soloist with the internationally renowned Pontarddulais Male Choir in Wales. Schedule highlights in 2015/16 also included performances in London's West End as Don Carlo di Vargas in the English National Opera’s first new staging of The Force of Destiny in over 20 years, directed by Calixto Bieito.

Masterclass / Boyer College Of Music and Dance, Temple University / February 9, 2016

Anthony will lend his ears and experiences to the students of the vocal studio at Temple University in Philadelphia. This is a private event in coordination with Assistant Professor of Voice and Opera, Dr. Marcus DeLoach. Please contact marcus.deloach@temple.edu for more information.

Opera Philadelphia debut / Cold Mountain / February 5, 7, 10, 12 & 14, 2016

Anthony makes his Company Debut in Cold Mountain at Opera Philadephia as Father Monroe, Pangle and one of Strobrod's fellow outliers. This will be the East Coast Premiere and is a co-commission and co-production by The Santa Fe Opera, Opera Philadelphia, and Minnesota Opera in collaboration with North Carolina Opera.

Performances are February 5, 7, 10, 12 & 14, 2016.

Recital with Côr Meibion Pontarddulais / November 28, 2015

Anthony appears in concert with the internationally renowned Pontarddulais Male Choir in Swansea, Wales. One night only: November 28, 2015.

English National Opera / Don Carlo in The Force of Destiny / Nov. 9, 13, 18, 20, 25, 27; Dec. 2 & 4, 2015

Anthony returns to the London Coliseum in ENO’s first new staging of The Force of Destiny in over 20 years directed by Calixto Bieito, who sets the production in the 1930s, during the Spanish Civil War.

2014/15 Schedule Archive

At the start of the 2014/15 season Anthony made his company debut with Lyric Opera of Kansas City as Giorgio Germont in La traviata. The Baritone then returned to Opera Pittsburgh as Iago in Otello. A regular at The English National Opera, Mr. Michaels-Moore next appeared as Giorgio Germont in Peter Konwitschny's acclaimed production of Verdi's La traviata. Finally, he topped off the 14/15 season in 2 new works: first, he made an exciting return to Teatro alla Scala, starring in the world premiere of Giorgio Battistelli's C02, based on Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth. Michaels-Moore created the main role of climatologist Dr. David Adamson in a production directed by Robert Carsen. Then, in Summer 2015, Mr. Michaels-Moore returned to The Santa Fe Opera in the highly-anticipated world premiere of Cold Mountain by the Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Jennifer Higdon.

Santa Fe Opera / Cold Mountain / (Summer 2015)

Anthony appears in the highly anticipated world premiere of Cold Mountain by the Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Jennifer Higdon. The opera captures the fervor of Charles Frazier’s thrilling novel by the same title with Higdon's distinctive technical brilliance and audience appeal.

Performances are August 1, 5, 14, 17 and 22, 2015.

Teatro alla Scala / world premiere of CO2 / (Spring 2015)

Anthony returns to Milan's famed Teatro alla Scala in the World Premiere of Giorgio Battistelli's C02, based on Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth. The work is part of the 2015 Arts Expo and is directed by Robert Carson.

Performances are May 16, 19, 22, 24, 27 and 29, 2015.

English National Opera / Germont in La traviata (Winter 2015)

Anthony returns to the London Coliseum in the revival of Peter Konwitschny's production of Verdi's La Traviata.
Anthony's previous turn as Germont in this production earned him high praise: “Anthony Michaels-Moore sang the role of his life as the egotistical father, brutal and overpowering and yet still appealing to an empathetic node in audience hearts and minds..” -Norman Lebrecht, Arts Journal (February 2013)

Oper Leipzig / Title role in Nabucco / (Winter 2015)

Anthony returns in the title role of Verdi's Nabucco.

Anthony has previously appeared as Nabucco at the Wiener Staatsoper, Bayerische Staatsoper, Deutsche Oper and most recently at the Teatro de Regio in Parma, Italy.

Pittsburgh Opera / Iago in Otello / (Autumn 2014)

Antony makes his Company Debut with Pittsburgh Opera as Iago in Verdi's Otello.

Anthony has previously performed the role of Iago at Le Théâtre du Châtelet and most recently under the baton of Daniele Gatti at Opernhaus Zürich.

Lyric Opera of Kansas City debut / Germont in La Traviata (Autumn 2014)

Anthony makes his Company Debut with the Lyric Opera of Kansas City as Germont in La Traviata at the new Kauffman Center in Kansas City, Missouri.

Anthony has previously performed the role of Germont at The Royal Opera House Covent Garden, The Met, Bayerische Staatsoper, Deutsche Oper, Hungarian State Opera, The New National Theater in Tokyo, The Santa Fe Opera, Opera North, and most recently at The English National Opera in a new and controversial production by Peter Konwitschny.
